RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND DESIGN
This chapter describes the design of the study, the population of the study, the instrument sources use for data collection, the sample size determination, the sample study, the research instruments use and the method of data analysis an statistical techniques.
3.2 RESEARCH DESIGN
This research use survey research method in carrying out the study.
This method was chose because; it afforded the researcher the opportunity to select a sample from a population to which the result of the study can be generalized. Furthermore, the survey method focuses on the vital characteristics of people like attitude, belief e.t.c
Survey research method is used in order to simplify and understand complex issue concerning the topic under study.
3.3 SOURCES OF DATA COLLECTION
The principle source of data use were primary an secondary data
The instruments use for collecting primary data was personal interview and questionnaire. The questionnaire contained closed ended questions. The pattern of interview an questionnaire provided an indept search on the impact of purchasing research in a company or organization in which (star paper mill, Aba) is used in the study.
The secondary data were mainly collected through surveys of documents available. This included published and unpublished books, textbooks e.t.c
3.4 POPULATION OF THE STUDY
In this research study, the personal interview an questionnaire administered were restricted to senior staff supervisors and mainly production officials which comprises of both male an females. The ages of those who form the sample were between the ages of 18 to 70 years. The population was made up of one hundred and fifty (150) employees of star paper mill, Aba. The researcher made used of this sample due to time constraints and huge financial involvement in trying to cover the entire population.
3.5 SAMPLE SIZE DETERMINATION.
A sample size determination can be defined as the portion of a population selected for the study. Samples of 60 personnel were drawn from the population. Using the yaro Yemen’s formular for sample determination of 10% margin of error.
